Metso has entered into an agreement with two Brazilian non-governmental organizations developing local social and environmental programs in the Maranhão area in Brazil. The agreement relates to Metso’s largest-ever pulp mill project with its long-standing Brazilian customer Suzano. The supply contract was signed in spring 2011. Read more

The Great East Japan Earthquake struck off the northeast coast of Japan at 2:46 p.m. on March 11, 2011. The earthquake also triggered huge tsunamis that left close to 20,000 people dead or missing, caused immense destruction along Japan’s Pacific coast and created over 300,000 refugees.
