Metso has entered into an agreement with two Brazilian non-governmental organizations developing local social and environmental programs in the Maranhão area in Brazil. The agreement relates to Metso’s largest-ever pulp mill project with its long-standing Brazilian customer Suzano. The supply contract was signed in spring 2011. Read more

Japan’s paper industry recovering after the natural disaster

 

The Great East Japan Earthquake struck off the northeast coast of Japan at 2:46 p.m. on March 11, 2011. The earthquake also triggered huge tsunamis that left close to 20,000 people dead or missing, caused immense destruction along Japan’s Pacific coast and created over 300,000 refugees. The earthquake also caused extensive damage to several paper mills and halted their operations. Read more
